Checking “Meta safe zones” ensures that your creative elements, such as text, logos, or calls-to-action (CTAs), is not covered up by the platform’s own interface elements. On formats like Reels or Stories, the app overlays buttons (like, comment, share), your username, the caption, and progress bars onto the video.
If your key message is in one of these “unsafe” areas, it will be hidden, making your content look unprofessional, confusing your audience, and causing your message or CTA to fail.
It is the central part of your full-screen creative (like a Reel or Story) where it is safe to place important text, logos, and calls-to-action (CTAs). This is the area that will not be covered by the platform’s interface elements, such as your profile name, the “like” and “comment” buttons, or the caption.
Hidden CTAs: Your “Swipe Up” or “Shop Now” text may be covered by the button itself.
Blocked Text: Your caption will cover the bottom portion of your video, hiding any text you placed there.
Obscured Logos: Your profile icon and username will cover the top-left corner.
Lost Engagement: Viewers will be confused or miss the point of your content, leading to lower engagement and conversion rates.
When in doubt, keep all text, logos, and critical information in the center-middle of the screen. Assume the top and bottom quarters of your video will be obscured and design your creative accordingly.
